Sustainability & Social Value
At Inspire Contract Services, sustainability and social value are not standalone initiatives, they are embedded within how we plan, manage and deliver our projects.
Working across live education environments and public sector buildings, we recognise the importance of delivering solutions that not only perform technically, but also reduce environmental impact and create lasting benefits for the communities we serve.
Environmental responsibility
We are committed to minimising the environmental impact of our construction activities, both on site and within the surrounding community.
Our projects are designed with a focus on reducing waste, improving energy efficiency and extending the lifespan of building assets. Wherever possible, we prioritise the use of sustainable, recyclable and locally sourced materials, working with supply chain partners who share our environmental values.
We actively promote the separation, reuse and responsible disposal of waste, and continually review our processes to improve environmental performance and reduce pollution. Careful planning also ensures that dust, noise and site activity are managed to minimise disruption to building users and the local community.
This approach is demonstrated on projects where existing materials are reused. For example, on a recent school refurbishment, approximately 90% of the original clay roof tiles were salvaged and reused, significantly reducing waste and embodied carbon while preserving the building’s character.
In addition, our roofing systems are designed to enhance long-term performance, including insulation upgrades to improve thermal efficiency and support reduced energy consumption.
Safer & smarter construction
Delivering projects safely is a fundamental part of sustainable construction.
We adopt modern, responsible installation methods that reduce risk and improve efficiency on site. This includes the use of cold-applied and low-risk systems where appropriate, particularly within live environments.
We have also developed an innovative thermographic monitoring approach to enhance fire safety during roofing works. By using real-time temperature analysis during the Firewatch period, we are able to identify and manage latent heat risks more effectively. This not only improves site safety but can also reduce programme constraints, allowing for more efficient project delivery.
Through continuous training and awareness, our teams are equipped to implement these practices consistently, ensuring that sustainability and safety are embedded at every stage of delivery.
Social value & community impact
We are committed to delivering meaningful social value within the communities in which we operate.
This includes engaging with local schools, supporting training initiatives and creating opportunities for skills development within the construction industry.
A recent example includes our collaboration with a local SEN school, where students were given hands-on experience in liquid roofing systems within a supportive and inclusive environment. This initiative helped to build confidence, develop practical skills and provide valuable insight into potential career pathways.
We also invest in our own workforce through ongoing training and development, ensuring that our teams are skilled, knowledgeable and aligned with our environmental and social value objectives.
Delivering long term value
Our approach to sustainability and social value is focused on delivering long-term outcomes.
By combining durable construction methods, responsible material selection and community-focused initiatives, we ensure that our projects:
At Inspire, we don’t just deliver projects – we deliver solutions that perform, endure and contribute positively to the wider environment and community.
